Market in a nutshell
- Markets opened on a cautious note looking for cues from the budget. Post the budget, we saw selling across the board during afternoon trades. The final hour saw some amount of muted recovery with Sensex finally closing at 17,579 (down 246 points) while Nifty closed at 5,224 (down 62 points).
- BSE IT and Realty Indices were the major losers both down around 3% to 3,863 and 9,566 respectively. HCL Tech and Unitech both fell around 5% to INR 278 and INR 359, respectively.
- Nifty March Futures were trading at a discount of 30 points to spot for the first half, which increased to 45 points during the second half.
- Market breadth was negative with an Advance: Decline Ratio of 1:2. India Infoline declined 7% to INR 1,112, while Essar Oil gained 8% to INR 260.
- Cash volumes were at INR 158,166 mn (NSE+BSE) as against a 5 DMA of INR 179,180 mn. F&O volumes were at INR 490,835 mn as against a 5 DMA of INR 537,077 mn.
Eye Catchers
- Chambal Fertilisers plunged 10% to INR 59 with volumes of 42,060,025 (up 220%).
- Nagarjuna Fertilisers fell 8% to INR 52 with volumes of 117,311,010 (up 230%).
Market News
- Rupee weakened to trade at INR 40.02 against the dollar.
- Nymex crude rose to trade at $ 102.18/bbl. Base metals were trading on a strong note, with zinc up 4%.
- Costly petroleum products and some food items pushed inflation rate to nine-month high of 4.89% for the week ended February 16

Market in a nutshell
- Markets opened on a cautious note and traded within a narrow range, with a negative bias throughout the day. The last half hour saw some buying interest causing the Sensex to finally close at 17,825 (down 2 points) while Nifty closed at 5,285 (up 17 points).
- BSE Healthcare and Metal Indices both advanced around 2% to 3,926 and 16,972 respectively. Sun Pharmaceuticals gained 5.5% to INR 1,259, while National Aluminum was up 7% to INR 478.
- Nifty March Futures were trading at a discount of 15 points to spot for the first half, which increased to 30 points during the second half.
- Market breadth was marginally negative with an Advance: Decline Ratio of 0.8:1. Nagarjuna Fertilisers advanced 6% to INR 57, while Union Bank shed 6% to INR 178.
- Cash volumes were at INR 196,048 mn (NSE+BSE) as against a 5 DMA of INR 175,179 mn. F&O volumes were at INR 610,653 mn as against a 5 DMA of INR 501,766 mn.
Eye Catchers
- Bata gained 4.5% to INR 169 with volumes of 976,375 (up 420%).
- Hero Honda was up 3.5% to INR 748 with volumes of 342,658 (up 400%).
Market News
- Rupee was trading at INR 39.88 against the dollar.
- Nymex crude was trading at $ 99.24/bbl. Base metals were trading on a strong note, with zinc up 8%.

Market in a nutshell
- Influenced by strong global cues, local bourses opened on a buoyant note, and sustained at the high levels. The broader indices advanced further upwards during afternoon trades, but pared some of the gains before close. Sensex finally closed at 17,806 (up 156 points) while Nifty closed at 5,270 (up 69 points). Buying was witnessed across the board.
- BSE Realty and Power Indices were the major gainers both up around 2.5% to 10,016 and 3,707 respectively. India Bulls Real Estate surged 11% to INR 643, while BHEL was up 5% to INR 2,180.
- Market wide rollovers picked up further with approximately 48% of the positions getting shifted into the March expiry. The roll cost continues to remain under pressure and hovers around 50-55 bps.
- In line with our expectations Nifty roll cost (cost to the short roller) expanded further to 30-31 points as against yesterday 20-25 points.
- Nifty February Futures were trading at a premium of 5 points to spot for major part of the session.
- Market breadth was positive with an Advance: Decline Ratio of 1.8:1. Info Edge advanced 13% to INR 1,111, while National Aluminum gained 7% to INR 465.
- Cash volumes were at INR 159,054 mn (NSE+BSE) as against a 5 DMA of INR 178,097 mn. F&O volumes were at INR 565,157 mn as against a 5 DMA of INR 422,989 mn.
Eye Catchers
- Gateway Distriparks rallied 6.5% to INR 117 with volumes of 2,434,653 (up 780%).
- Jindal Stainless gained 7% to INR 160 with volumes of 1,134,079 (up 290%).
Market News
- Rupee strengthened to trade at INR 39.91 against the dollar, on expectations of capital inflows.
- Nymex crude fell to trade at $98.76/bbl. Base metals were trading on a weak note, with copper down 2%.
- BHEL bagged an INR 10.75 bn order from Gujarat State Energy Generation.

Market in a nutshell
- Markets opened on a strong note on the back of positive global cues and sustained at the high levels till noon. Afternoon trades however, saw the broader indices pare the day’s gains with Sensex finally closing at 18,076 (up 28 points) and Nifty ending the day at 5,281 (up 4 points).
- BSE Consumer Durable Index gained 3% to 4,843, with Titan up 5.5% to INR 1,213. BSE Auto Index advanced 1.5% to 4,866, with Amtek Auto up 6% to INR 315.
- Nifty February Futures were trading at a discount of 10 points to spot for the first half of the session, which increased to 15 points during the second half.
- Market breadth was marginally positive with an Advance: Decline Ratio of 1.2:1. McDowells gained 8% to INR 1,729, while JP Associate shed 7% to INR 264.
- Cash volumes were at INR 189,028 mn (NSE+BSE) as against a 5 DMA of INR 188,163 mn. F&O volumes were at INR 363,970 mn as against a 5 DMA of INR 373,689 mn.

- Vijaya Bank gained 6% to INR 71 with volumes of 5,123,847 (up 510%).
- Bajaj Auto was up 5.5% to INR 2,326 with volumes of 398,366 (up 440%).

- Rupee weakened to trade at INR 39.93 against the greenback, as dealers expected a reduction in capital inflows.
- Nymex crude rose to trade at $96.44/bbl. Base metals were trading on a strong note, with copper up 3%.

Market in a nutshell
- Markets opened on a cautious note and witnessed a dull session today. Broader Indices traded within a narrow range throughout the day with Sensex finally closing at 18,048 (down 67 points) and Nifty ending the day at 5,277 (down 26 points).
- BSE FMCG Index gained 2% to 2,258, with Hindustan Unilever up 3% to INR 217. BSE Realty Index shed 3% to 10,207, with Ansal Infrastructure down 8% to INR 216.
- Nifty February Futures were trading at a discount of 20 points to spot for major part of the session, which reduced to 5 points during the last half hour.
- Market breadth was positive with an Advance: Decline Ratio of 2:1. Bajaj Hindustan gained 10% to INR 265, while Renuka was up 12% to INR 1,007.
